The team has participated in hundreds of clinical trials that have forged new frontiers in the treatment of hepatitis patients. Their ongoing clinical research continues to provide patients access to the latest ground breaking treatments. Additionally the HTC is one of the first to offer the new FibroScan technology which non invasively determines liver scarring within 10 minutes.
The team at the HTC are the only clinicians in the area with hands on experience with all the latest treatment opportunities, this is because the clinical trial team has been using these drugs for years before they become FDA approved.
Hepatitis means inflammation of the liver and there are many varieties. The most common forms include Non alcoholic Fatty liver disease (NAFLD) caused by fatty liver, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B and alcoholic hepatitis. All forms of hepatitis may lead to the slow replacement of the liver with scar tissue also known as cirrhosis. Cirrhosis may lead to liver failure and liver cancer. By treating hepatitis before cirrhosis develops these complications are avoided.
- FibroScan®, also called transient elastography, is a technique used to assess liver stiffness (measured in kPa correlated to fibrosis) without invasive investigation.
