KCRI Treatments
Those That Participate
Every team member at our clinic is dedicated to improving not only the lives of our individual patients, but the availability of life changing medicine to the national community.
Our History
When Dr. Freilich first began practicing as a hepatologist in the 1990s, he started treating Hepatitis C patients. However, he often identified that they were still experiencing liver damage.
Driven by a desire to provide alternative options to his patients provide them with opportunities that they otherwise couldn’t get anywhere else, Dr. Freilich founded KCRI to help explore new and emerging treatments and improve the breadth of his patients’ options.

Why Fibroscan?
Fibroscan is a non-invasive alternative to a liver biopsy. It is shorter and more cost-effective procedure for the staging of liver health. It is not a direct substitute for other imaging procedures, as it provides different information than an MRI or Ultrasound.

Exam Process
During a FibroScan, your technician will use a probe to send pulses of energy to your liver. This provides a measure of the amount of scaring and fat buildup in your liver. This, in conjunction with your medical history, will give your doctor important information regarding your liver health.
- Do not eat or drink for three hours prior to a FibroScan appointment. No additional preparation for this appointment is necessary.
